MARBLE CANYON AND THE VERMILION CLIFFS I

Marble Canyon is the first section of the Grand Canyon. The canyon is flanked by the Vermilion Cliffs, the walls of the Paria Plateau rising almost 2000 feet. The region presents an extraordinary diversity of secluded canyons and towering rocks centered on the Colorado River. This is the first of two exhibits on the area. I have made an exception by including a photograph of a man-made object, the Marble Canyon Bridge. Besides being an elegant structure, it actually spans the Grand Canyon!
